Broken Wrist Update No6.

Good news! I played my first gig since breaking my wrist 6 weeks ago. The show went well and my wrist held up but it did ache afterwards. I’m pretty sure I let the adrenaline get to me and I played a bit too hard for my wrist. It’s easy to get carried away when you haven’t played for such a long time.

Last week I amassed 10+ hours of rehearsals so my wrist had quite the shock. But that helped me get gig ready and avoided any shock to the system on the gig.

In genera the wrist is doing okay. I also did my first push up this morning which hopefully means I can go back to the gym soon! I’m still playing it safe though. Not playing when I’m not rehearsing with the bands or playing gigs. This way I can encourage the wrist to heal in the time between.

I’m thinking around week 8 will be back to the gym and playing properly again. It will likely still be stiff until week 12 but I can handle that.

Being able to play and have projects to focus on has been great for the mental health too. No longer am I feeling down about not getting to do the thing that I love. I can’t wait to be fully recovered with this new sense of gratitude for what I do. I will do my best to keep that feeling for as long as possible.

Just a short one today, I’ll see you next week!
